Default 4x4 issues

hi, i got a 98 gmc jimmy 4x4 4dr, with 4wd problems, we brought it in about a yr ago to get fixed, the transfer case motor was good the guy sed but, the brain on the passenger side kick panel got wet somehow and that needed to be replaced, so after that the 4wd worked, i brought it home and tested the 4wd out and it worked awesome, so i got cocky and went into some mud in 4hi and it worked good until i came out of it and it wouldnt go back into 2hi and started blowing fuses and clicking everytime i tried going into 2hi then once i got it back in 2hi i tried 4wd again and it would click click then blow the fuse.... was wondering what could be the problem and i wanna get it fixed, and wanna get rid of this electric stuff and just put in posilock will that work??

3-button or 4-button switch on the dash? I am guessing 3-button.

My 98 was doing that and I had to buy an encoder motor and now it works.

its 3 button and my mechanic tested the encoder motor when i brought it in last time and said it was good, just the control module behind the kick panel got wet and shorted out so that was replaced...... and sumtimes the push buttons dont even light up till im driving down the rd then they come on somehow like the 2hi i mean...... could something be loose? you think i wanna put posilock on it and get rid of the push button or will that still require it?

Have you checked the connection at the TCCM for corrosion? If it got wet, the connector may still have corrosion in it that was not cleaned when the TCCM was replaced.
