Winter is coming soon and fast and I would like to get my heater working properly again, it blows out warm air not really all that great, and it takes it a while to warm up too. The longer I drive the warmer it gets (city driving it doesn't get that hot) I'm thinking my thermostat is either stuck open or closed. What do you guys think? And also where is the thermostat on this truck. Thanks.

 

Follow the upper rad hose,,,will take you right to the Thermostat housing, its held on with 2 bolts.

 

Thanks, is this hard to get to or easy as pie? The one on my Mystique was a bear to get to. I'm hoping this is a little easier.

 

Ok, I think I found the housing for the T-stat and I do not know how to get the dang thing out of the housing. I am including a picture of the housing is that it.

 

thats not it..... If you follow the upper radiator hose to the motor unbolt where the hose ends and the thermostat is in there there is only two bolts holding it to the motor. If you have the 4.3 liter vortec it should be right in front of the throttle body.

 

that picture is the EGR valve..the thermostat is below it under the T stat housing.

 

hopefully this might give you a better idea..
Follow hose on upper part of the radiator (mine is on the upper-driver's side) and it connects to a metal hose and bolts on top of the engine.
The right red arrow is where the upper-rad hose sorta "starts" and the circled in red shows the location of the thermostat.

 

So I'm in for a bunch of fun eh?
Sorry the pic don't help, they musta changed the engine around a little on the "newer" ones.
I feel like an idiot, the EGR valve HA! oops.
Now the housing is it the thing under the hose that sticks up a bit at an angle with 2 bolts on each side?

 

yep thats it,It's not that hard to do,loosen the hose clamp after you drain the coolant and remove the hose..take the 2 bolts out and the Tstat is there..put the new one in the same way its in there.

 

try flushing you heater core.i did that and i cant handle the heat now..just unplug the intake and output hose off the firewall and use a waterhose to plug the intake line and let the water pressure blow out the clogs for a good few mins then hit it in reverse too until the water comes back clear and you will have a warm winter...the pic shows u the location of the hoses also!
