95 Blazer ignition won't turn back to lock position
New to the Board. I have a 1995 S-10 Blazer. Just had to replace the heater core so pulled the dash etc.... I have replaced most of the dash but wanted to start up the engine to make sure there were no leaks. Turned over just fine but now I can't get the key back to the lock position to lock steering wheel and turn off battery. I tried a new ignition lock cylinder but no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ignition switch?
im having a similar problem myself, on a 94 blazer s10. except I was driving, whent to stop and turn the motor off and the key would not turn back, hence leaving the motor running, I had to suffocate it at the throttle body to get it to stop running. Ive read the ignition lock is a common problem with these blazers, did you ever get yours fixxed?
There are threads on this issue if you search, however I recall that when I changed a core in a 96 I had (twice in 2 weeks due to a defective core) the second time I experienced the same problem,'cause you must drop the column. Apparently the second time I messed up a linkage (or so it had been described to me) on the top of the column and caused this problem. As that car was almost done,I never gave it a second thought as I was able to kill power and lock the car. Continued to drive that unit for almost a year and never needed a key to start it after that! Kind of nice, but that was a $500 Jimmy that I got 56K when purchased at 200,000 mi-thats why I bought another
