Are you getting fuel? Because I had this problem on my 87 and I found out after millions of trouble shooting and parts that it was the sending module in the dist.

 

fuel isn't the problem
getting no spark is.
chiltons is a waste of 20 bucks
the directions are so vauge to troubleshoot
and it tells you to put a scanner on it.
so it looks like me and my test light are worthless here.

 

Are the Alco Delco wires still in top shape?

 

Mine had a week spark too. I turned out to be the wireing harness. But since your was running I don't see that. Do you have spark at the coil? Try the cap and rotor mine was new and bad. Good luck.

 

Also try starting it at night to see if there's visible arcing of sparks going on.
