Default 95 s-10

i have a 95 4.3L but its got a rod knock. im being offered a 2000 4.3L
my question is. can i swap them with only changing the computer or do i need the harness to make it work. im giving the s-10 blazer to my son but i have to get the engine done first. any help would be great

the 95 is a CPI fuel injection system. the 2000 is a SFI injection system.
the system is obdII other than the injectors being different the engines are the same. both are 262ci Vin code w VORTEC V6

if your 95 is OBDII itll make the swap alot easier, but i beleive one problem youll run into is the 95 and 2000 motor have different injection systems(im pretty sure the 95 is tbi and the 2000 isnt) but somebody with a little more knowledge should be able to shed some more light on the subject.

The 95 had the cfi (not tbi). basically all injector ports fired. from 96 on the 4.3 had csfi. each port fired independently. Completely different systems. Different computers. And That's only the earlier model. I think somewhere around 2000 they made even more internal changes. But bottom line. no you won't be able to just swap computers. I had a 98 and I now have a 95. From the intake manifold up it's a completely different system. Then again, if you have the obd1 system that's even more difference.
