Default 96 4.3 blazer misses and no power

I've got a 96 4wd blazer with a 4.3 engine with a check engine light on. The code says maf sensor low voltage. Problem is the blazer surges a bit while idling and idles real low. It also does not want to take off from a dead stop, it will sputter and miss alot until about 40mph. Once you hit 40mph or so it will run okay without missing or sputtering so much but still won't accelerate very well. Also you can smell it burning gas real bad and the gas mileage is absolutely horrible. I replaced the maf sensor and still the same problem. Now if I unplug the maf sensor it won't start up without giving it gas and holding rpms at 2k+ for a few seconds, but it will take off with a tap of the gas pedal and it won't sputter or miss at all. I'll hit the gas and the front will lift up and the tires will actually spin if in gravel/mud and I no longer smell it burning gas. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Here are two MAF codes that have been posted:
P0101 - Mass Air Flow System Performance
P0102 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Low Frequency
If neither of these matches the code you received, please post the exact code you received and I will look into it further. I do not see any low voltage codes for the MAF sensor, only for the MAP sensor --> P0107 - Manifold Absolute Pressure [MAP] Sensor Circuit Low Voltage

Is there a set throttle position that causes it to spit/sputter? If so, you should test the TPS sensor.

When was the last time you did a tune up?

Not sure on actual code number. Don't have a scanning tool have to take it back to autozone and ask. As for throttle/pedal position doesn't matter, a small tap or floored it will sputter/miss like crazy till 40mph or so. As For tune up I have no idea since we just bought the truck thinking it was just egr valve clogged. Plan on giving it a full tune up when weather breaks here. Thanks for the help I'll keep you posted.

From the code description as well as the problem description, it sounds as though you may have a MAP sensor issue.

I've got a 99 s10 pickup with same engine so I'll try swapping out map sensors when my gf brings the blazer home from work. Also I do remember checking the plugs and they appear to be old/rusty but the dist. cap and plug wires look new so looks like I'll be changing plugs here asap.

Edit: neglected to mention engine has 195k miles on it if that means anything.
Edit 2: Hm.. Havin trouble getting the map sensor out of the s10. Pulled and wiggled it and loosened a bit but couldn't get it out I remember last time I had to get it out I broke it and had to buy a new one. Trying not to have to do that again. Any suggestions on pulling it out safely?
