How do you know that you had a clogged converter?

What do you mean by knocked it out?

Do you have any codes?

George

Clogged converter seems to be a result, not the main reason to me. It could be leaking injector, dead O2 sensor or anything else.
I would start with connecting a dongle and checking the ST/FT fuel trims.

Are you getting a check engine light? I had similar symptoms before when my crank position sensor went bad.

You very well may have a chunk of the converter floating around in your exhaust system somewhere. Did you remove everything from the cat or just bore a hole thru it. A loose chunk can cause an intermittent issue. Check the muffler and pipe between the two.
