Default 96 blazer 4.3 problems.

hey guys.. my trucks giving me a few problems. first when i cut the truck on while its warming up, the idle speed jumps back and forth (no rpm gauge yet so im not sure what at exactly). Im thinking it could be something with the throttle body control but im not sure.

second, my temp gauge does NOT work. at all. drives me nuts, so i crawled under the hood. the temp sensor is on the right side (looking at the front) of block as far as i know, but its not plugged in and i can not for the life of me find the plug. i do though have some open connection located near the brake fluid container its a red wire with a boxy looking plug. so does anyone have a picture of where the temp sensor wire plugs into? obviously into the sensor.... but wheres the other end go?

thanks for helping a newb out.. havent ever had a chevy with the 4.3 before
