Just thought of this...You can try shooting an email to Rockauto to see if they can get one. I had to do that with a hard to find harmonic balancer once for a different vehicle. They found it no problem..

There's also www.lkqonline.com as well who can supply used parts.

Thanks. I just verified that brake assembly is what I need. What I was told is that the module is part of the pump assembly.

On most of the used auto parts web sites, you get a choice of anti-lock brake computer or anti-lock brake assembly. It seems the right choice is the assembly. Seems backwards to me, but when you select computer it comes back with chassis control box.

I got a used ABS Assembly and put it in. Now both the ABS light and the Brake (parking) light are on.

I took it for a short drive to see if computer would reset. The first few times I hit the brakes, the ABS didn't seem to work as the wheels locked up. Then the brakes started working fine. When I jammed on the brakes, the wheels didn't lock up which seems like the abs was working.

A couple of questions:
  • Do the brakes need to be bled after replacing the ABS Assembly?
  • Is it possible (probable) the computer will reset and the problem is really fixed?

Thanks

Still need help. Here's an update.

I read that the parking brake problem was usually hydraulic problem, and sure enough, one of the brake line connections to the control module was loose. I tightened it, but light stayed on. Finally was able to get someone to bleed system and light went off. Unfortunately, 5 miles later it came back on. So now, ABS and parking brake lights are both on.

I asked mechanic to check the EBCM ground because I had been unable to find it. He insisted there wasn't a separate ground that it just connected to the ground for the car. I told him I had read it was either on the radiator mount or under the drivers door, but I couldn't find it at either location. He again insisted it didn't have a separate ground. Does it?

I also told him that the Blazer made a loud thump when I turned hard to the right. It appeared to be from the front passenger side, so I jacked up the Blazer and took off the tire. Everything was covered with grease. I suspected the axle, but that is beyond my knowledge and ability to tackle. I asked mechanic if the grease might be causing the wheel sensor not to work. He said no. I found that strange as many sensor problems appear to be from dirt getting into the sensor. What do you think?

Again, here's my questions:
  • Parking light went off after bleeding brakes, but came back on after 5 miles. What could cause that to happen?
  • Does the EBCM have it's own separate ground?
  • Could grease leaking from the axle cause the wheel sensor to not work?
Thanks

  • ad 1. I didn't went through that issue, have no idea. Maybe one of Your ABS sensors has a damaged wire and while bleeding You accidentally moved the wire to a working position...?
  • ad 2. No idea, but still if You got the wiring diagram and a continuity tester You can measure ground connection Yourself.
  • ad 3. No. Hub has a rubber sealing there, so no dust/grease can get inside. But of Your axle shoe is busted, my advise - better have it done.
Cheers, Mike
