Default 96 Gmc Jimmy 4x4 no start issue

Hi,
This will be my first post after reading for hours older posts with no one describing the exact issues i,m having.

Parked my Jimmy the other day and all was fine. Next day went to start and it won't turn over at all, no power to any dash guages, fuel pump or daytime running lights when key is in on position. Regular headlights, radio, power seats, power windows, wipers all work.
On a side note, the floor mounted gear selector won't come out of park. (automatic). Not sure if this is a result of the no power issue or possibly the cause. I'm leaning towards the ignition switch but don't have the funds to be wrong. Would a faulty ignition switch power most accessories and not these few. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I assume you've checked all fuses?
I dont have diags for 96, I think Autozone MAY

You could try tuning on the switch then tuggin the harness at the column. If it comes on or flickers even, you are on track

Default ignition switch

Ok, after pulling steering wheel cover off and the small cover over the end of the ignition switch I was able to put the voltmeter on it. Red with white stripe and large pink wire has no power in acc, run, or crank. Took a small jumper wire to one of the wires and dash lights come on, running lights, shifter worked and bumped the starter and it worked also. Just another possible combination of things that can happen for a faulty ignition switch.
Everything I have read here didn't have these combinations. Anyway just letting ya'll know.
