here's the story 2 yrs ago replace the fuel pump. filter. & relay switch. car would still stall only on hot days. 90 or above. after 10 min or up to 1hr it would start back up. last year change out the fuel tank due to broken vent valve no issue until now after tuning off the vehicle while getting gas. supermarket. whatever the car would start then quickly spit & sputter then stall would restart within 20 min same thing good crank just not getting fuel when running there are no issue run's good and it only happen on very hot days this is crazy and any advice would be great

thanks Joe

I feel your pain.. I also have a 97 blazer. Freakin' annoying problem, huh?

Have you seen threads about the ignition switch? Seems to be a likely culprit. My switch is on the floor right now (I broke a plastic piece when I went to change it last week), but I plan on splicing into 12v and the fuel relay wire with a toggle switch to confirm/eliminate this switch as my problem.

Yeah, I have the same issue (only on >90 days in the afternoon). My fuel pump relay is usually too hot to touch whenever I find myself in this situation, so I may try a more serious relay. The only other thing I can think of is the fuel pump wire being too thin for the amount of current that flows.

The cause of a sputter-die-no-restart for me was a torn rubber boot on the MAP sensor; wasn't sealing properly. Died at idle in the drive-thru lane and at stop lights when hot (only when hot outside). Sometimes didn't re-start for a while. I think this was causing sputters while driving, too, but I'm not sure. I got my new MAP sensor on Ebay for $25.

EGR probably isn't your problem, but inspect/clean it anyway.

I fixed my stall-while-driving issue with a new Ignition Control Module $55 @carquest (and also new coil for good measure: $30 @carquest).

Have any of you thought that maybe you are getting air in the fuel system. I have seen that & no leak or so small that it went unnoticed. Just a thought. I put a fuel pump in a Honda the other day & it started right up & I drove it around then shut it down & went to start it & it cranked but no start. After a few tries it started. It did it once more but it cranked much less before starting. Now I have driven it about a 100 miles & no problems. All I could think of was air got trapped in the pressure line & it took some to get it out.
