Smile 97 ZR2 Blazer Antifreeze Leak

Hello everyone! I just bought a 1997 ZR2 Blazer. It's a 4.3 v-6 5 speed with 245,000 miles. I know the previous owner stuck it to me (It just needs a little TLC he said) judging by all the things I'm finding wrong with it. It's my fault. I should have checked it more closely. Anyway... I see it's leaking antifreeze down the back of the engine on the drivers side but can't see the actual leak. I heard these engines were notorious for intake leaks. Could this be one? The engine is hard to start but idles smooth. But it misses and carries on bad when you try to accelerate. Very hard to drive. No white smoke from the tail pipe and the oil is clean. No check engine light either. I don't want to put too much money into the Blazer yet. I still have to have a clutch put in it and figure out why it's stuck in 4WD hi. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Steve

Well, maybe you got a killer deal on it!! It sounds like the intake manifolds are leaking.

Default Deal?? Maybe...

Well I bought the Blazer for $800.00 + $100.00 in fuel to get it so..... Maybe.... I do think it's the intake gaskest too. Are they tough to do?

I replaced the intake gasket on my 96 blazer a few months ago, mine was leaking from the intake right under the ac compressor and running down the back of the motor. It was my first time replacing an intake gasket on a blazer but it wasn't too hard, took me maybe 3-4 hours. What actually took me the longest was getting the gears on the distributer back in the correct spot. It helps to have someone help when you put the intake back on to keep everything out of the way so you don't mess up the gasket sealant. Here is a link to the procedure: https://blazerforum.com/forum/tech-articles-diy-29/how-replace-intake-manifold-gaskets-4-3-v6-46168/
