The Haynes manual hardly helped. I guess an official GM repair guide would have saved me several dollars
Haynes and Chilton's procedures can be frustrating because they omit essentially ALL of the details that would be needed by anybody who is not an experienced auto mechanic. People buy these books precisely because they are NOT experienced mechanics.
