Thank you everyone for your help on this. I did the job myself in about 4 hours. I now have floor heat for my tootsies :-) One thin I did notice is that I get air out of the defroster too when it is in the floor only mode. Is this normal or is there another problem?
Thanks

Imagine a very cold day and having to switch output to the windshield to keep it from icing up.

After replacing the floor heat flap I am now finding that the floor position only and the floor/defroster positions are the same with no difference. Can someone guide me to what is causing this new problem?

Yes, you & I both installed the flap wrong. I fixed mine. Took it all apart again & found that I didn't install the flap correctly. There is a hole that the trailing end fits in to. You have to put the diaphragm end in first while creating a slight bow into the flap and at the same time pushing that trailing end into the hole. Once you do that you can connect the diaphragm end together. Trial & error on my end discovered this. Mine works perfectly now. Be sure you put a small amount of lube on the trailing end.

Now I have the same problem with floor vent. I am afraid only how to change the flap. It looks horrible to remove all dashboard.

ANother thing, you probably only need the flap & not the gear. The flap breaks at the flap/gear connection. Gear can be re-used
