Question 98 blazer passlock unplugged but still starts

The Blazer I have sometimes the security light will come on and not start. I already tired cutting the yellow wire and still randomly the light will come on and not start. I was messing around with it today and unplugged the harness on top of the ignition (yellow red and orange wires) and it still started right up but no security light. Am I missing something here? I figured if that was unplugged it wouldn't fire. But it still starts no problem I'm just worried im going to get stuck somewhere and it wont start.
