So I literally just got done replacing the ignition switch and ignition lock cylinder in my truck. I took the truck around the block to make sure the lights are no longer on, which they arent, thank god. But now when i remove the keys from the ignition, the battery light goes on, the only thing that is still showing in the truck is my mileage. I think it may be because to remove the keys i have to turn the lock cylinder all the way back, instead of 1 click from all the way back. Is this bad? Is there a way to fix this and get the light off?

I also just took the battery cable off and could see sparks, and it made that sound when you first turn the key when i would make the cable meets the battery. I'm thinking somehow along the lines the truck is still definitely getting power.. i just can't figure out how or where. The battery cable is disconnected just to be safe for now.

Sounds like you didn't get the switch in the proper orientation. You are likely one tooth off and the position to remove the key is actually the accessory position in the switch.

Thanks man. Im amazed how even though things are done incorrectly, this thing will not stop running. Chevys really are bulletproof.
