Default 98 S10 Blazer Failure to start oddity

Greetings y'all,

I've spent the last 4 hours reading through the forums looking for this specific problem and am either blind from reading them all or just totally missed it, but here goes.
I have a 98 S10 Blazer all standard except radio. At the end of the summer last year I noticed that when the outside temp was above 90 deg. and I had been driving for a while, if I stopped and turned off the engine for more than 6 minutes I could not restart the car for at least 10 minutes. When I mean it won't start it turns over just fine but won't fire, almost like it is getting no gas. After the 10 minute wait it would start just fine and run just fine until I stopped again. Once the outside temp dropped below 90 deg, I never had the problem. I drove it all winter no problems. Now this year as the temp warms up the Blazer has started doing it again but it now starts doing it at 80 deg outside temp. The temp guage while driving shows between 150 deg and 200 deg and never gets above 200. The radiator is full and I have no issues while it is running, no hesitation, no sputtering and I can idle all day long in traffic with no problems.

In addition the a/c is affected as well, when it gets hot outside and I run the a/c and turn the car off, the a/c will not come back on until I drive it for a few minutes. If I press the a/c button the yellow light flashes 3 times and stays off. I have put the gauges on the a/c system and it appears to be charged correctly. These problems seem to go hand in hand.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

1998 Chevy S10 Blazer LS 145K miles, all standard parts.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Your A/C problem sounds like the system pressure is rising and taking awhile to fall back down once. This will trigger the high pressure switch which will disable the compressor and result in exactly what you noted with the light on the HVAC controls.

Your other problem is perplexing...

Thanks for the idea on the a/c, I'll check the pressure next time the compressor won't come on and see if maybe that is it. I couldn't agree more about the other problem is perplexing.
