Default 99 Blazer Brakelights

Hi all,

I've googled and discovered that this is an incredibly common problem and usually is solved by replacing the multi-function switch but before I go ahead and spend the big bucks, I'd like to make sure I've checked all possible causes:

Bulbs - Checked
Fuses - Checked
Relays - Checked.
Hazard Lights work - Checked.

What else can I fault diagnose?

Thanks in advance?

Do the brake lights just not work? Does the 3rd light work, and the lowers not? Let us know a little more info. Korey.

Also, what year blazer is it. You should probably enter the year and mods done to it as a signature so all can see. This way we don't need to ask 20 questions. The signature imput field is accessable the through the my profile link at the top of the page.

The centre light works. It's just the lowers that do not - but they appear to work when turning the hazard lights on.

Signature added - thanks for the tip.

Sounds to me like the multifunction swich(MFS), the center lamp does not go through the MFS, so if it works, and the others don't that usually is the culprit. You never did mention if the turn signals worked. If they don't then I would replace the MFS. Also just for PM, reolace the flasher unit also. HTH Korey.

Great, thanks for the update/confirmation. The turn signals do work but i guess i'll just get the MFS. Seems all roads are leading there.
