99 Blazer dies after running for 15-20 min
HI all,
I have a 99 Blazer that basicly sat for almost 1 1/2 years while I had a company car, so it wasn't driven hardly at all. I started driving it and last summer I drovet it approx 7 mi to my aunts house and I was there for 30 min or so. It wouldn't start. I disconnected the batter and waited 10 min and it started. I thought maybe the TCM was bad, as I was haveing 4WD issues but that turned out to be dirty contacts on the 4WD switch.
This spring, I replaced the battery and drove the car in town for about 10 min and it died coming up a hill. I parked it and two days later, it started and I drove it home (5 min.). I have started the Blazer a couple of times and it will run for 15-20 min. and die, and then it won't start for a while. I usall try the next day or so. I don't have a code reader and I don't think it will run long enought to get it to the closest parts store to get the codes read. Please Help!

If the check engine light is on, you really need to get the codes scanned. It could provide very important information into the cause of the problem.
With that said, there are some other things you can test. The ICM & coil both can exhibit heat/load based failures. CLICK HERE for a good run down on how to test the ICM & coil.
When it died, did the security light come on in the dash? If so, this could mean that you have a problem with the ignition switch which is a fairly common issue in these trucks. Read through the thread linked to at the bottom of my signature below for further information.
