Default 99 wont start

I have a 99 4 dr blazer 4.3l 4x4. I just changed my fuel pump cause it was getting loud and my fuel gauge stopped working was reading empty all the time. also went ahead and changed my distributor, I was having lag when trying to take off and pulled the cap off a couple weeks ago and the **** on the inside of the cap were corroded and dug into. went and got a new cap and rotor installed them then realized the screw hole on the bottom of the dizzy were broke and couldn't tighten the cap down. also could move the rotor from front to back real easy. so I bought a all metal dizzy and installed it today and now I cant get the truck to start. also installed the new fuel pump today also I think I got it in time I removed the #1 spark plug and turned the motor over till it blew my finger off install the dizzy so it lined up with the 6 ingraved in the base and it still wont start. I pulled a wire off and checked it and im getting spark. I checked and I got fuel pressure I even poured some gas in the tb and it still wont fire up. also I noticed when I dropped the fuel tank there is a rubber hose that hooks to the front of the tank and it was unhooked so when I reinstalled the tank I hooked it back up was wondering what that line was for and if that would keep it from starting. it seems like when I cover the intake and try it acts like it wants to start but wont the battery dies and have to wait for it to charge up again. if anyone can help me out I would be grateful ive tried everything I could think of and im stumped

The line attached at the tank front was a vapor vent, would not interfer with starting.

You are getting spark, but are you getting spark at the correct time? I do not know anything about this "6" engraved in the base with regards to timing. I have replaced the distributor in my '02 with a metal housing, but there was no "6" anywhere.

I would suggest removing the distributor, rotate engine till #1 at TDC compression, install distributor with rotor at #1 and see if it starts then. Only suggestion I have at this moment.

ok I got it to start and run, it idles smooth like normal but starting it I have to give it gas and it hesitates to start, also when I floor it from a stand still it hesitates and chugs and backfires. if I push the pedal down slowly it drives fine and does the same thing in neutral. is there any way to adjust the timing a little on the distributor, or do I have to go thru the computer

I haven't set the timing on a second-gen Blazer. On the first-gens you have to disconnect the timing wire before setting the timing to 0° BTDC. The computer handles timing adjustments from there. Hopefully someone who knows the second-gens better can give the exact procedure for setting the timing.
