Hi, I have a 2000 blazer 2wd and the ABS and braje warning light will come on and then go off, usualy after I turn the vehicke off and then back on. Has anyone tried the Fixd device? Does it read for this problem?

 

Fixd would probably read the codes to give you an idea of what's going on. There are also cheaper bluetooth OBD adapters like this one that will get the job done, and most auto parts stores will scan the codes for free.

Reading the codes will tell more definitively, but this sounds like a very common problem with solder joints within the ABS control module failing after a while. The good news is that if that's the problem you can send your ABS module off to be rebuilt for around $50.

 

That's almost always an intermittent ground problem. Advance, O'Reilly, etc can check for those abs codes (I think it's C0265). Common problem with the Kelsey/Hayes ABS modules in Blazers. You can try cleaning off the ground contact that connects to the body just behind the driver side headlamps (have to remove the air filter box). If that doesn't do the trick, it would probably need the solder joint fix to the abs module. Mine have been going on and off for over a year and I've just been ignoring it, but will probably send mine off for a re-solder at some point.

 

That happened to me, too. A good member here resoldered the module for me and everything was cool for a few years but now the lights are back on. Accorfing to Youtube there are six joints that are susceptible to getting shaken loose, so when I get time to practice soldering, I think I will give it a go myself. The screws that hold the module down are a b*tch but I replaced them with normal screws so at least that's not a problem.

 

That is, when You turn the key on / engine off the brake indicator lits. With key on / engine on it should go off. If the indicator remains off while You drive, I'd consider it normal.
Otherwise, follow Puttster advice. And You may check the ground wire connector at the radiator support, down below the air filter.
