Anyway, I recently acquired a rather nice scantool so I could pull codes, and pulled some ABS codes that my Blazer currently has. Anyone able to help me translate these codes into layman's terms?
The Codes are as follows:
-0055
-0061
-0071
-0024
-0035
-0051
-0052
Anyone care to help? I'm trying to diagnose the ABS light being on. At least a few I think are related to Wheel speed sensors, but others I'm not sure.
Scan tool used is an Autel Maxicheck Pro. Vehicle is a 1997 Blazer 4wd, LS trim.

Nothing for ABS there. These are all SIR (airbag) codes. 55, 61, 71 are current. Looks like was in a crash before (codes 51, 52) and airbag probably deployed causing the DERM (Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module) to go bad (codes 55, 71). Then the owner most likely disconnected the SIR light because it was on (code 61). I'm not going to bother with commenting on codes 24, 35, but they were probably the result of the previous crash. Good luck. You need factory diagnostic charts and info to fix this stuff, and it's seldom cheap (that's probably why the SIR light is disabled).
Much oblidged for the help. I also spoke with a friend who used to work as a GM Tech back when these were new, and he also recommended and said the same. I've a "new" DERM on its way.
However, after realising what I pulled was SIR codes, I tried going into the ABS for codes... And got this screen:
This was after I made sure I hit the right option, as it showed the option as "4WAL 3-sensor".
I can neither read the codes, nor pull live data from it, as it seems incapable of communication.
Can anyone enlighten? Is there common problems and solutions to this? Is my ABS module bad?
You're going to have to figure out why the ABS module isn't communicating with the rest of the system. I would personally start with factory wiring diagrams and fuses.
I've checkeD all fuses, and every one is in operational condition and not blown. I've tried searching for wiring diagrams, but haven't had luck finding the ones for the ABS wiring.
One thing of note: there is a single red wire that comes out of a wire loom which runs next to the ABS and includes some of the ABS wiring. It comes up from the look and ends at a clear white connector. I cannot find a matching connector to mate it too anywhere within the Blazer between the ABS module and the inner fender wall. The only identifying mark on it appears to be the letters "P.E.D." on the clear white connector.

Get a subscription for your vehicle. Best source for factory wiring diagrams and diagnostic charts now that Google is flooded with pay to see diagrams, all from the same company. Much cheaper than the parts you will replace without it. IIRC there are several fuses in the ABS circuits.
