I have recently purchase a 1998 Blazer LS 4x4. I started noticing that my ABS seems to be engaging as i slow down to make a stop. No light comes on, but the pedal depresses & you can hear the moan of ABS engaging. After reading through posts on here I found that to be a common issue, so i tried the remedy of cleaning the WSS & surrounding area. After doing so it engages much less, but it still does every now and again. Upon cleaning I noticed that on one of the WSS (front drivers side) there was a blue colored grease all over, but yet nothing on the opposite side. So my question is if that's normal, or is it something else causing the issue? A bad bearing/hub maybe? I'm new to all this so it may seem like an obvious answer but I don't have the money to keep bringing into shops to get checked & was hoping to be able to fix it on my own.

Probly bad bearing and or speed sensor wire. I had the same issuse and one of my hubs had rust in it (wasnt bad...yet) but enought rust got on to the sensor and was kicking my abs. i originaly replaced just the sensor witch worked. But later eventualy replaced both my hub assemblys. Both of witch came with new wires.
So i would start with removing the sensors and look at them and in the bearing, if they are dirty you could probly just get away with wipeing them off, but i personaly veiw that to be a short term fix. and if you dont know what wire it is, its the only wire coming off the front hubs, needs an allen wrench to take off.
