Default ABS light

Hi.
I have problems with the ABS system. The ABS light is lithe.
I have replaced the ABS controller / unit in the engine compartment.
ABS light is still on. (Battery have been disconnected)
Tried to connect the ODB- connector in dashboard, but the “code-reader” can’t
Make connection. In engine compartment, it says on sticker that the car is equipped
With ODB 1, but the connector on the dashboard is ODB 2.
The wiring to the wheel sensors seems to be ok.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Someone may correct me, but I believe just like my Bonneville(1995) was the year that they were testing the new OBDII system on GM's. Though the 95's were not TRUE OBDII systems. More like OBD1.5. They still had some OBDII traits such as the OBDII style connector, but the software was different.

What kind of code reader do you have? It may not be able to read ABS systems at all.

If you had replaced the controller, than your other issue may be a wheel sensor. Which are more prone to failure.

Many 95 model year GM vehicles were like this. This is what is known as the mongrel year for GM (and some of the other auto manufacturers). The PCM's used were a mix of OBD1 and OBD2 controls. To make matters worse on some models (blazer in particular), it was a mid model year change. Some early 95's could have had 100% OBD1 controls with the OBD1 style connector under the dash. The rest have a mixed system with an OBD2 connector under the dash.

Hi.

You’re right.
I have talked to a GM dealer here in Norway; they said that I need a adapter cable
With ODB 2 connector for the ODB 1 system. This cable is especially for the 95 models.
Is there possible to reset the “brain” by short some of the pins in the connector? I know this is possible on the older version of the Blazer. (The dealer want 700 Nkr = 100 $ for just to reset the "brain"

To reset the PCM, just disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes.

Wait, which brain? If its the PCM, then you should be able to disconnect the battery to clear it.

Do you have a mutli-meter? You can check each wheel sensor using just one of these. Compare results with all sensors and you will find out which one is bad. If thats the case.

I have just got a workshop to make the readings from the ODB. The codes is # C1265 Pump relay circuit open, and #1269 VCM 4x4 volt after anti.
This is not a GM dealer, so he could not tell me any more specific about the error codes.
Does anybody know what code C1265 & C1269 is?

THIS PDF will explain the method for troubleshooting the C1265 code even though it says 1999 Malibu, the troubleshooting is nearly identical.

C1265 - PUMP MOTOR RELAY CIRCUIT OPEN
C1269 - VCM/4WAL VOLTAGE LOW DURING ABS STOP

Both sound as though there is either a wiring problem at or near the ECBM (electronic brake control module) or an internal fault exists in the ABS module.
