AC Compressor not kicking on
#1
This was my own stupidity but I'd like to get the problem fixed. About a year ago my battery died and when I went to jump it I hooked the jumper cables up backwards. (positive to negative and negative to positive)
. I was gonna be late for work and was in a huge hurry...wasn't thinking to clear. I know that it could potentially be a huge problem (crossing the cables) but thankfully I was pretty lucky. Now that summer is coming I'd like to have my AC working again.
Anyways, when I did that I blew a few fuses...got them all replaced and everything worked perfect except for the AC. When I try to run the AC, the compressor won't kick on.
What I'm wondering is could the compressor be fried? Seems more like a relay somewhere or an inline fuse, but I could be wrong. I tried switching the relay in the fuse box under the hood with a different one, that didn't help. Also there is a 10A fuse in the fuse box that blows everytime I try to run the AC. Tried replacing that with a 15A fuse and it didn't blow but the comp. still didn't work.
Oh and the AC worked perfect when I bought the truck blew ice cold up until I screwed it up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What happens if you supply power and ground directly to the A/C compressor clutch using a fused jumper wire on the positive lead? Did you check the wiring under the fuse box for signs of damage from the short circuit?

I haven't tried either of these but I'll check both. I didn't even think about trying that. Thanks.
