AC Compressor Quick Fix

AC Compressor Quick Fix
I need to know whether or not a quick fix Im thinking of doing is going to be safe. I noticed i had a slow leak, so I put in red dye and saw were it is leaking. It is coming out right on top of compressor right behind Delco sticker and warning sticker at the seem were the two seperate parts meet ( area less than .25" fom stickers). Now what im thinking of doing as a temperary fix is to JB weld or silicone caulk this area. I want to know if this might work or should I take compressor off so I can get all the way around ( its only leaking out of a 3 1/2-4" section on top ), or is this a bad idea and I should wait untill I can replace compressor.

Not a chance it will work. The only hope would be if you could somehow seal it from the inside, but a patch on the outside is doomed to fail.

I had the same problem. I bought about a 4oz can of a/c stop leak for $20 from my local Wal-Mart. This was a really small can, not the big can that also has freon in it. I never would have believed that it would have worked, but it did. Sorry, but I cannot remember the name of the product. I remember that the instructions said to add freon after adding the stop leak or it would seal up the service port.
