Hi,
I been posting about bad mileage, maybe this is the problem? I owned this for about 11/2 months now, but while I changed the antifreeze, I came across a hose about 3/4" in diameter cut off on an angle on the pass side of the engine bay about 8" up, from the bottom of the frame, what/where should this go? Is something missing emmision/engine related? This hose is pointing straight up. next to the radiator. I'm not positive but this vehicle may have been hit in the past, cuz, it was painted. But why would there be a hose exposed open like this? I don't see any canisters or anything that it could possibly go to. Please Advise. Thanks alot.

That hose is the intake for the AIR pump. Nothing wrong with it although it has been redesigned such that it is better at keeping water out of the pump. The redesigned hose has a 90* bend at the end of it.
It is not related to your problem.

Kyle,
Thank you very much for all your responses, but i don't see/have an air pump on it. It did however pass emmisions test.

The AIR pump is located under the radiator on the inside of the frame rail. It is visible with the front air dam removed. I am confident that the hose you are referring to is the intake hose for the AIR pump.
Take a look at the attached pictures in THIS THREAD.

Wow, could this be why when I hit the car on a long hill or highway I smell rotten eggs?
#6
I doubt it, but that could be the reason for your decrease in mileage. The smell of rotten eggs is a sign of catalytic converter failure, but other things may be at work that have affected the catalytic converter. The list is long though...

Kyle, Would you replace it/ reconnect it? Must a reason they disconnected it no?
#8
It is not disconnected. It is an intake hose for the AIR pump. That is how it is intended to be. If you wanted to replace it with the updated piece, that is your choice. If you are not having water intrusion problems with the pump, then I would not bother with it.
