Default Airbag Light

I'm getting the airbag light randomly. Do I check the fuse, wiring, what? I'm kind of lost. I'm not worried about it, I just dont want it going off while driving or something...

An advanced code reader can tell you the origin of the code.

A likely culprit is one of the front collision sensors.

$8.95 Car Gauge Pro will do it on a 1998 once you have the
$22 BAFX Bluetooth OBD2 adapter.

The local O'Reilly's store had a reader that they used that was able to read my airbag codes. I think it was a Bosch unit. But it is good to know that there is a low cost option for purchase.

My light randomly comes on and goes off too, it's very intermittent though, and I've just been living with it. In my case I've narrowed it down to the actual harness that goes to the front impact sensors.

I used a Snap-On scanner that a buddy at work owns and came up with a code B0026

The average OBDII scanner will not pick up on the airbag codes since they're relayed through the body control module, so a scanner is needed that can communicate with the body control module.

I replaced the sensors, twice, and still have the same result... And by the way the sensors are riveted in from the factory, so after drilling the rivets out to remove the original ones I installed threaded nut inserts and now I have stainless steel allen head bolts holding the sensors on lol. Fund in a junk yard that the only thing on the harness that plugs into them is both of the front sensors and the ABS wheel speed sensors up front and then runs directly to the fuse box under the hood where it actually unplugs from the bottom of the fuse box. It runs close to the exhaust manifolds on both sides so portions of it have aluminum heat covering material on it, so that's likely where mine are failing, and is reason to believe it's a common spot for any of them to fail at...

I have the hole harness that I grabbed from another Blazer in the junk yard with the engine out, I just haven't bothered trying to replace mine out just yet because of how it snakes down to the crossmember under the engine, it's just a lot of work, and I'm lazy lol. I plan on swapping the harness out whenever the 4.3 gets pulled out to make room for the 6.2
