Another ABS thread
After living with the ABS light going on and off for the last 2 years I decided to open up the ABS module and look at the circuit board. WOW....couldn't hardly believe my eyes. The circuit board was bent/cracked where the motor circuit connections come through, kind of looked like when the connections were pushed through it missed and the board got bent. (sorry should have taken pics). The ribbon was still in good shape but the solder joints were obviously cracked. Bent the board back straight and re flowed the solder joints. Been about a week now with no ABS lights. This was a relatively easy fix that only took about an hour and a half to complete, although I did wait about 36 hours for the sealant to cure before
reinstalling. Followed a You-Tube video for instructions.

I tried several modules from junk yards....they ALL failed. Problem is after 19 years in service most all of them have dried cracked solderings not to mention the components are outdated.
Finally found this company that you can mail your brake module to and they repair it really quick. Guarantee it for 5 years as well. Couldn't be happier with their work/service.......Best $130 I've spent in a long time.
Here's what they did according to the invoice:
Replaced pump amplifier with new premium grade unit. Installed motor surge suppressor/wave shaper. Replaced electromechanical ABS relay with more efficient unit as required. Tested module with no problems and then cleared error code history. Sealed module housing and exposed module hardware. Module has a 5 year warranty.

I tried 4 or 5 junk yard modules and kept getting random ABS lights before finally just trying to pop the cap off my original one and reflowing (and adding more solder to) the solder joints. That was almost 2 years ago now and I haven't seen the light come back on since.
Just my experience, try adding solder to the joints instead of just reflowing them.

I tried that as well, only to find they lasted about a month. Wasted lots of time and money when I knew I should get it done right.
