Another coolant leak
My son's 98 blazer ls 4wd has a coolant leak so I took off some stuff under the hood to get a better look and so far I have taken some pictures to share with everyone hoping someone could help me. These are from above the ac compressor(moved)

I am losing daylight so I will get back with any more info/pictures I can come up with. Thanks.

OK, here is one more picture of where the coolant is leaking from so I guess it's the intake manifold gasket, which kinda sucks for me. I'm going to try this job myself. I cleaned up the coolant in the picture but all I saw was coolant and no oil so does that mean that I could have bearing trouble in the future? The D-tips thread seemed to imply that. Also, I plan on changing the oil when I'm done then changing it again after 50 miles or so in case I got coolant where it shouldn't be. Also plan to do a good flush of the coolant system. Was planning on using Prestone Super Radiator Flush. Don't know much about these products. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated as this is way beyond any job I've done before. Thanks

Moving along I have broken a fitting on the end of one of the throttle cables. Is this fixable without replacing the whole cable? Take a look.

A question on the D-tips procedure: How am I supposed to move the wiring harness out of the way as it looks to be hard-wired to the fuse relay center?

OK, I got the intake manifold off finally so I'm happy about that but I'm bummed about the broken fitting on the cruise control cable(see original post with pictures). I'm still curious if anyone has encountered this repair before. Disregard the question on the wiring harness. Tomorrow I have to find a torque wrench which reads in inch-pounds. Not sure what to look for so any input would be helpful. Also, need to get the felpro gaskets(NAPA?). Do I need a tap in order to clean the bolt holes sufficiently? Also looking for recommendations on adhesive material for front & rear of engine surface. Wondering if I should change the valve cover gaskets since I'm this far into it. The covers move (slightly) with some tugging. Here's a couple of pics with the the manifold off.

Regular RTV for the front and rear rails on the block.
For the cruise cable... Good luck with that... You could always try to find the cable at the junk yard or maybe just the end if it is removable. I have the part on a throttle body I have in a box somewhere. I just cut the cable when I grabbed the TB. The older style just clip on. The newer style has a little plastic c-clip.
I would tap the holes if they are quite gummed up. If a bolt goes in nicely though, I would not bother.

O.K. I've got the surfaces of the intake and engine cleaned up real good and was wondering if I should replace the valve cover gaskets also since they were included in the felpro gasket kit. Here's a picture. I cleaned the valve covers off some and can't tell if the gaskets are leaking.
Also was wondering how difficult it is going to be manuvering the manifold into position for a good "landing" 'cause I want to get it right on the first try.

By the way, I can get a new cruise control cable for $54.80 from a dealer so right now I'm still looking for a better price/option. I'll make sure to update that repair as well since no one else seems to have run into the same problem before.

Just set it straight down on the motor. Did you get that harness out of the way? It would make it a lot easier. Two 10mm headed bolts hold the fuse center down, a sheet metal screw holding that harness connector on the bottom of it. If the harness is across the motor it would make it a lot more challenging.
