Default anti theft/keyless entry

My 98 when I start shows the security light for a few seconds then goes out. I was wondering how the security system works on a 98 ? My key doesn't have any anti theft built into it as far as I can tell.

Also... I have electric locks, is there a way to find out if it had keyless entry or a way to hook it up ?

The antitheft system in your truck is built into the lock cylindar. It's called Passlock II.

Keyless entry is fairly easy to add to these trucks. Any quality alarm or remote starter system would come with the capabilities of handling keyless entry. If it came factory equipped you could probably find that out from having your VIN decoded. New factory remotes can be programmed pretty easy if you can find one.

My sun fire had power locks so I picked up some key Fobs out of a sun fire in a pnp and had my locale gm dealer 're program them to my car. Was gonna cost around 15 bucks but my buddy who works there did it for free on his lunch too 5 minutes to do.
