Default Anyone know what this HVAC foam seal is made of?

Hello all

Few weeks ago was going to work in my 2002 Zr2 and started seeing steam coming from my defrost vents, inside of windshield started getting foggy, an naturally could smell the coolant.

So limped home an as a old pipe fitter was able to rig a solid bypass of my HC with brazed copper fittings.

So now am trying to assemble all the parts to replace and since I've had various HVAC issues am looking to replace as much as possible so am collecting all kinds of vacuum actuators and controllers and doors. Which oddly a lot of these parts are no longer available so has not been that easy.

So far I think I have everything I will need, but the one part I just can't find anywhere for any price is a foam seal called the Upper Seal - GM PN: 52480129

Picture of part is here: https://static.summitracing.com/glob...o-52480129.jpg

Location of part is part number 9 on this page: https://www.potamkinparts.com/auto-p...umber=52480129

So does anyone know what this stuff might be made of? If its shot could I just possibly make up with some hardware store material? Or is there something special about it?

Thanks for any help

its made from "unabtainium"! foam tape will work just fine. having pulled your chain with that, unless you are taking the entire heater/ac system out of the truck to replace the heater core. you will not need this part, nor are you likely to disturb it. from your description of what you are doing it sounds like you are throwing everything at it and hope it works out. a leaking heater core is a fairly simple thing to replace. all the actuators and valves VERY rarely go bad. if you are looking for a 90 percent failure part in the system it is the mode selector control on the dash. the vacuum rotary valve goes bad and leaks and then the air comes out where ever it wants to, or switches depending on engine load, good luck!
