Default Auto vs Manual Climate Control --- Parts

So there's quite a few posts out there that talk about the differences between the auto climate control and manual climate control. I wanted to post something to be able to list the parts that have specific requirements regarding these systems.

First of, the easy way to tell if you have the auto system vs the manual system is right there on the controls for the HVAC. The auto system will have numbers on the temperture rheostat; the **** that sets hot vs cold. The manual will just have the blended blue/red color stripe that lets you know which way is hot and which way is cold.

Now on to the parts, which is where I'll need help from this forum.

I know from experience that the blend door actuator needs to be specific to the system. There is one for auto and one for manual.

Upon looking for heater core, blower motor, heater core temp sensors, and control panels, all of them have options for manual vs automatic climate controls. For instance, a heater core listed on rockauto.com lists:

ACDELCO Part # 1560087 {#52473178}
CORE,HTR w/HVY DUTY HTR(C42) or A/C MAN CONT(C60)
CORE,HTR w/A/C AUTO ELEC CONT(C68); w/o RIGHT HAND DRIVE(RHD)

Yet some other places I have read say that the heater core is the same for each system.

Here's the big question;

What parts in the HVAC system require specificity between auto and manual climate controls?

old thread, but I'm resurrecting it

has anyone ever successfully converted a non auto system over to an auto system? if so what did it take?

honestly, I could care less about the "auto" part, I would just like to have more control over when the AC and recirculate is actually on, which the auto AC controls give you that ability...
