ok for a while i have been putting off repairing the illumination lamps on the Auto climate control, these are the lamps that are only seen at nite that illuminate the diagrams for the 4 various funtions...
The tools needed are a 7mm 1/4" drive scocket to remove dash trim
1/4" drive rachet
and a 3" extention
also a 1/4" nut driver or socket.
and a small wattage solder iron
4 12v bi-pin 50Ma bulbs Radio shack #272-1154
ok, 2 more 1/4" screws will hole the small printed circuit board to the black front panel, remove the 2 screws and gently lift up on the circuit board
from the front face plate, caution be very gentle with the front panel,
it has the buttons and some foam that will become dislodged if knocked around...
and thats it...
reinstall ribbon cable to the small circuit board and
reattach to front face, then reattach front face to main body and then reinstall in vehicle... when completed it should look like this... https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1390699320
i will address the larger bulb for the main body later, and if a person is real
crafty,, i would suppose LED's could be installed, but will need a resistor
to step down the electrical current, hopes this helps..

this has been eating at me for a while and i finally had enough of pik-a-part places and the units not working or are in worse condition that i already have.. i now have 3 of these thing that i can rebuild...lol
Yup, know what ya mean. I waited until all of the bulbs in the radio burnt out before replacing them. The only thing working was the station and clock illumination, and those are in a logic module.
YES! Finally someone who put an actual part number and place to purchase them for those little bulbs that light up the 4 buttons along the automatic climate control panel. You are heroic sir!
My Recirculate, Fresh Air, AC, and Rear Defroster buttons actually light up again!
The larger bulbs that illuminate the dials... Are they soldered in or is the white plastic at the base of the bulb a socket? I've given a tug on the bulbs, but they definitely do not come out easily. And do we know what the part number of the bulbs are? And did you actually do a guide for replacing those bulbs with LEDs & resistors?
BTW, a tool I got for removing solder from printed circuit boards that worked really well for these types of bulbs is this one.
The tip is hollow and you place it over the stub of the lean and then once the solder has melted you release the suction spring retainer and the solder is sucked up. This is all done with one hand.
