that is the weirdest problem i have ever heard of, those two systems are completely unrelated...i did get a good laugh just imagining that though. as for why it may be happening i would assume its something within the electrical system that was crossed, but i really have no idea. i hope someone else can offer some better advice....

no doubt is it weird lol, something could be giving off some kind of false electrical signal that is accidentally tripping it also?

I'd start by tracing the wires from the push button on the dash back and you may find out where they are crossed. I know that's not much help but something very odd is going on there.

thank you to the administrator for not saying lol when posting his chuckle... i have a similar issue but do not have a sister... heheheheh

my 97 blazer's rear hatch dash button makes its kachunk sound when pushed but it does not release the window... it also randomly pops open while driving... i am having weird electrical headaches searching for my parasitic drain and hope i run into problem soon or im going to....(*&^$#

thanks

The noise without the hatch opening is likely a broken actuator arm.

The hatch popping when driving down the road could be a problem with the latch itself. Next time it pops, get in there and have a look around.
