Default Backplates rear brakes 2000 Chevy Blazer

Hi from Normandy,
Is there a simple way of changing the backplates on my Blazer. I note that 2 piece backplates are available for some vehicles. It seems very extreme to have to remove the half-shaft just to replace a rusty backplate. Thanks in advance, Chris

Howdy,
I've been looking the possible solutions and what I found is that the split plates won't feed the '00 Blazers. Seems You have to open the differential to detach the shafts. I remember a given advice - prior opening, make sure You're able to remove the oil plug, as they sometimes too rusty and You may have to order the differential cover too. I've been considering of cutting &welding the shield covers, but eventually I haven't carried out the shields replacement job.

Cheers, Mike

I paid someone to do mine. It was $300 but he did a lot of other work as well. I feel that I could have done it but sometimes I just don't want to mess with it.
