I did a SEARCH and see that teh broken Backrest lever is written in "BLAZER QUIRKS"

I couldn't find anyone talking about a fix. The plastic lever is not broken, But the aluminum spline that the lever fits over is. any fixes??

Yes there is a fix that cost about 20$ if you live near an autozone or pepboys or one of thsoe kinda stores they sell them theer.. They have an allen key screw that holds the new one in place... i have that replacement one in my blazer and it works fine..Ive seen three diff colors Light grey, Dark Grey and tan

Even when the splined section of the aluminum is broken??

How much of that aluminum piece is sticking out of that hole? on mine the threads at the tip had stripped off, the replacement handle has that screw so you can tighten it to the part that is still sticking out .. If that whole aluminum piece breaks off then ya have to go to the dealer for that part or look on ebay..

Go to wittydeals.com you can get the exact color and everything - you have to hacksaw the nub down just past the splines then stick the new one on and tighten the set screw. I think they were $30 each or $50 for a pair. (May be the same as "2002xtreme" was talking about, but these I know work well.

All the Splined piece is gone. It broke right to where the Aluminum is flat. So I think this kit you are talking about will work. I was going to Grind a slit into what's left of the aluminum and then Machine out some of the Teeth in my original handle, leaving the two large bumps. This way it will fit over the aluminum and it will work almost like original.

I know I can improvise with a screwdriver or visegrips but I'm not trying to move my backrest one time, I'm trying to fix what's broken.
