To make things clear:
- it was idling OK prior the intake gasket change?
- how did You set the distributor timing?

Yeah, I'm with Mike.

Sounds like something got messed up wirh the distributor.

You say you had the intake gaskets done. Did you do it, or take it to a shop?

I had a mechanic come and do it for 250$ he set it on time first time and it was perfect, then when it started sputtering being parked for like 8,9 yrs..he came back and messed with timing 2time and then he finally came back and set it rite where it started rite away.could it be starving for gas cause I'm at an incline with back to street.it has a new map sensor.couls it be maybe throttle sensor?

Parked for 8 or 9 years ? If so start out with draining old fuel and replace the fuel filter

Well I took it as a typo
If it isn't, then I'd suggest looking at the running engine's parameters to find out what is happening, for an accurate diagnosis. Do You have any codes thrown?
