Have checked thru threads for this but no luck. Changing upper and lower ball joints, both joints have been changed before, using nuts and bolts, upper came off easy, but lower doesn't have enough room to get in with a wrench, (on the underside), it would be easy if it still had rivites any suggestions thanks

Socket, normal or narrow shoulder, box end or open end wrench, none of them will go on far enough to hold bolt, I have even tried to jam the bolt head with a flat head screw driver. Would an air chisel cut thru the bolt?

Are they really rusty, they shouldnt be impossible to remove with a normal wrench and socket? I didnt do my lowers I only did my uppers but I dont think you have to remove the hub or cv, on mine the new lower seems like it wouldnt be that bad to take out.

Hmmmmm...
An air chisle would work, but I know there is a way to get them off without going to that measure. Can you get a pair of channel locks or vice grips on the bolt head? There's got to be something you can do.

I just did the ball joints among other things on my blazer last weekend and had no trouble at all removing the lower ball joints. Used a box wrench on the top of the bolt and a deep welled socket to pull off the bottom nut. Everything came apart very nicely.

Thanks guys for you replies, have tried all of them, guess air chisel is only thing left, but now I have another problem on the other side, can't get axel nut off, yes I know that it should not be that tight, was done before we got it, have broken 3 rachets, and a 3/4 step down on the axel socket, have tried heating it with a torch, but still will not move.
