Default ball joints to arms

the bolts used to attach the ball joint to control arm are torqued to ? my idiot book said 79 ft lbs for bottom and 61 for top. cannot be right cause i just snapped the f@$#%^* bolt . did i read it wrong or over read it ?is it safe to assume ( yes i know we should never assume...... etc)that they are just good n tight? thanks in advance for any and all responses. this job started off as a simple seal replacement on the front diff and now we are in the process of replacing upper and lower ball joints , wheel bearing, and tie rod end . i am almost afraid to look at the right side and discover what treasures await me there. yeah . btw this a 2002 blazer zr2.

thanks for the info and these torques sound a lot more correct than 79 and 61 ft lbs .
