Default banging when turning

When I turn from a low speed (usually when I turn around in my driveway or a parking lot) There is a loud bang that sounds like it is coming from the front left. last fall, I replaced the pitman arm, idler arm, ball joints, inner and out tie rod ends, tie rod adjusting sleeves and sway bar bushings. They are all either MOOG, Raybestos pro grade or ACDelco. therefore, I doubt that any of those are the issue. does anyone have any idea what could be the issue? A buddy of mine thinks that it could be the sway bar end links. I did replace them with moogs about 2 years ago.

I should mention that I wasn't able to grease the idler arm, pitman arm drivers side inner tie rod because I couldn't get my grease gun in there. Also, I think I over greased my passenger side inner tie rod end because the boot blew open and there is grease everywhere.

Check the torsion bar mounts. They are located on each end of the crossmember that the rear end of the torsion bars mount to. Moog Torsion Bar Mount K700356: Advance Auto Parts=

The torsion bars mounts are more towards the middle of the vehicle. This is very clearly coming from up front. I would like to one day replace the torsion bar mounts but I don't have the tools or know how to do that. I might just remove the sway bar to see if the noise goes away since it is very easy to replace. I might check with my mechanic and see how much he would charge me to do those mounts.

Possibly a failing CV joint. In the early stages of failure, they only make noise when turning, (either direction). Check the boots for rips/cracks and spewing grease.

On my '02, both CV boots threw grease all over the place and I never found a crack or split in the boot despite alot of squeezing and twisting around trying to find one.

I replaced both CV axles and no more grease all over the place.

However neither one made any kind of noise....front wheel bearing yes, CV joint no.

Good luck.

Well, it has gotten to the point where it has a constant bang when I turn left that increases or decreases with my speed. So I crawled under and looked at my left front axle and the boot has actually slid down on one side and the grease is all over the inside of the frame. That explains why I didn't see it at first. So it looks like I am doing an axle next weekend. Good call on that Captain Hook.

Well the banging wasn't my axle. My axle did need to be replaced because the inner boot was either wrong or deformed and most of the grease had come out. As I was taking the axle out I noticed that my lower ***** joint bolts were all loose. I guess I shouldn't go to Me. Tire for alignments anymore.
