Default Bearing or Tire???

I have a 2000 4dr blazer LT 4x4. recently ive heard a humming noise in my front end. it was low pitched but lately its been getting louder.you mainly hear it at 55 and it kinda goes away at 60 and comes back 65. but 55 is the strongest. Turning does not effects it. It will slow down varying speed.there is a slight vibration, very slight. I think its the bearing but i still need to jack it up and test it. also i went to get a alignment since in pulls to the right, but they said i need to replace my left upper and lower ball joints first. so how do i know if i have a bad bearing hub or tire??

Jack it up and test it like you said. Rotate the tires to see if the noise follows. I would take care of the ball joints first and foremost though.

Look for any feathered edge wear on tires. Actually called heel toast wear. If you need ball joins it could cause it to wear this way and make it sound Luke you're running misdeed when you're not

I got the same noise. Mine is the bearing. Not looking forward to doing this in the heat.

As someone else mentioned, rotating the tires is a quick way to check that.

The alignment is also a sign of the bearing.

check the break pads too my bfs were making a humming noise turns out the brake pads had a fail safe in them that made them hum when they needed replaced...but could verywell be the bearing as moms 03 t-blazer did the same.....cost her 900$s at sears...needs them done again a year later..*rolls eyes*

okay i jacked it up did the bearing test. little movement from 3 and 9, but i was told there would be due to something else, and no movement from 12 and 6. also rotated them you can hear it rotating but i don't hear or feel any roughness. so i checked my tires and i do have feathered edge on the inside tread of both tires. So tomorrow changing both upper and lower ball joints on both tires. also replace my transfer case motor. im not looking forward to the heat either.
