Blazer/S-10/Sonoma frames and suspension interchangability?
A guy down the road here has a 1995-97 Sonoma (for $300) and S-10 (for $500) up for grabs. I've been thinking about picking one of these up for a frame off resto for my 97 4Dr, 4WD blazer. Now these trucks have no engine/trans, but seem otherwise complete. My plan is to do a one inch tortion bar adjustment, with a 2" body lift. I'm also considering dropping in a TPI SBC 350.
My questions are....
Will the 2wd truck frames fit under my blazer, and still be useful as a direct replacement (minus the appropriate FWD setup?
Would it be smart to pick one of these up, do my suspensions mods, and engine swap on the frame, and then just pop the blazer off its current frame, and drop it onto the modified frame (with 2" body lift) once its completed?
Would picking up one of these vehicles be a waste of money?
I'm thinking that this would allow me to drive my blazer while I do all these groovy mods, and end up with a freshly painted, clean frame to drop my blazer body onto over the weekend. Im concerned that the 2wd/4wd may pose issues, as well as general fitment, and the cost versus benefit.
Waddayall think? Thanks for the info!

Eh i know the 4wd and 2wd front spindles are different. ball joints are flipped between the 2,and you cant change out spindles do to the frame being different...But if you can cut, weld, fabricate anythings possible.

Thanks, Chris!
considering all the work ahead of me, I think i'll take the lazy way out! I can cut, weld, and fab, but if the frames are different then Ill just pass. Doesnt seem worth the effort. I'd rather deal with not having the blazer for a while then all that redesigning- forcing parts to fit where they werent made to. Or maybe keeping an eye out on ebay or craigslist for a good rolling chassis that will fit as-is in the area.
Anyone interested in a couple of 2wd trucks with no engine/trans? lol
Thanks!
