It will stay at 58 psi for about 2-3 seconds then drop and holds steady around 52. I didn't let it sit more than 10-15 seconds before I tried to start it, but IIRC it started to bleed down very slow.

Update:

Changed fuel filter no difference.

Changed the fuel pressure regulator this morning. Will see in tomorrow morning if it was the problem. If not, I may have to succomb to the mercy of a repair shop...[&o]

Is there any kind of cold start sensor or anything that could be bad?? I am familiar with this kind of thing with the TPI systems on Fbodies.

i have the same problem with my blazer i took it to the guy i bought it from a mechanic and the fuel pump is perfectly fine we tested it it seems to be somthing with the ignition where the key is. the system is in a type of nutral saftey mode. it has to do with the key and the shifter depending if is a automatic or a standard. mine happens to be an automatic.

Here's the latest:
After the FPR swap, it still hestitates when starting, but will 'almost' fire on the first try, then on the second try it starts. The pressure will shoot to 60-62 with the key on (pump running), then steadily drops and holds at 52 psi (after pump is off).

I am at a loss right now...I hate to invest more time and dollars into replacing the spider if that isn't going to fix it. I also hate throwing parts at it.

How did you guys determine that it was the ignition? I've been told a few times to check that out, but i haven't seen anything that points to that.

An ignition switch problem with any 1998+ truck is typically accompanied by the "security" light being on.

piedmontfbody, I am starting to wonder if there are not a few poppet nozzles are sticking causing your slow start. Problem is, it is a bit complicated to check this. I checked them by using my scan tool to actuate each injector individually, having them spray into a jar. When I had my shudder on acceleration, I tracked it down to 3 injectors not spraying properly. Updated MFI spider cured the problem.
