Blazer won't start

Hi all,

I went to start my truck today, and after inserting the key, the battery just died (or seemed to). All electrical was out.
I assumed it was the battery, since all power went off.
As I tried to boost it, just by conencting the posititve to positive, all electrical came back. (the alarm went off).
After completing the boosting sequence, I went to start it again, and as soon as I crank, all the electrical shuts down.
At one point, after an apparent "electrical shutdown", I opened one of the doors, and not realizing the alarm was set, it rang and the electrical came back.
I checked the battery voltage, and showing 11.7 volts.
I checked the fuses and all seem to be in working order.

Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is maybe a bad connection on the positive battery post. Might want to clean that good and see if it helps.

I had a similar problem and it happened several times.
I finally fixed it by removing both battery posts, cleaning both the battery side and the strap side with a wire brush, and then remounting them and tightening them up quite a bit.

It's worked for about a year now with no repeats of the problem.

Hope this helps..

I agree with the above bad connection posts. Also check the large cable connection at the starter. I had a similar problem about 5 years ago. Cleaned the starter terminal, and it hasn't happened since.
