Default Blinking check engine light

Hello,
Back in June I purchased a 95 Blazer Lt with 190,000 miles on it. It ran fine ,drove fine. Last week got EGR valve replaced(engine light came on and coded for egr) was running really rough idle. Now that egr is replaced i am smelling exhaust/fuel and it just started idling rough again with a blinking check engine light that lasted about 30 seconds then was gone. any suggestions on where to start?

Find out what active codes are in your ECM and go from there. Just because the light is off doesn't mean the code is gone; just inactive.

Yes i actually watched the mechanic wipe it and make sure there were no codes present after he installed the EGR valve. I am going to take it to autozone to see if there are any codes present now and i'll update....thank you.

Default problem seems to be gone?

Had a busy week ....just got a chance to take it to autozone and guess what...no codes! strange that i also noticed was idling ok and didnt really smell gas/exhaust smell anymore although winds are blowing at 35-45 miles an hour today. today was the first day in a week it had been driven over 2 miles in one stretch also today i took her to the next town about 20 miles round trip so i know the engine was warm. guess ill have to wait till next time the light comes on.
