Default Blower Motor Blowing Fuse

I havent posted in awhile. I really haven't had any issues with my blazer until now. It keeps blowing the fuse inside the cabin when i move the selector switch from the off position. Ive had this truck for several years and its alway done what i asked for it to do. It just turned 343k with no rebuilds. I know it has a short i just cant find it. I almost forgot this is a 96 s10 blazer.

Thanks in advance for your help
Rick

Which fuse?

Try disconnecting things like the plug that supplies power to the blower motor and then see if the fuse still blows when you turn the switch from off to on. If it doesn't blow, then the motor needs to be replaced.

Its the fuse on drivers side dash panel.. And it still blows the fuse even after disconnecting the blower motor. Supposed to get snow today so i wont be working on it today. More research today.

Hmmmm. Well either there is something else in the blower motor circuit that is shorted out or the blower motor circuit has been damaged somehow.

Any chance wires behind the dash being pinched or crushed after doing work in there?

Regarding other things in blower motor circuit to check, the only other one I can think of is the blower motor speed control resistors. There might be other items though.

Check the fuse rating and bridge it with an adequate lightbulb. When:
  • the lightbulb is on - You have a short circuit
  • the lightbulb gets dark - short circuit is gone
Haven't seen the wiring diagram, but I suspect You may have the problem within a resistor heater or the blower motor (probably they're supplied through a same fuse). Try disconnecting either of those and see.
