Default Both Front Wheel Speed Sensor Error Code

Did a some-what hard acceleration onto a highway and the Check Engine Soon lite starts flashing....huh?...After I stop accelerating and began to cruise at 70 the CES lite goes off. Pull codes and get both front wheel speed sensor had either no data or bad data or error....not sure now and have cleared it.

Since this is both front wheels....what is common here...the ABS module?

Thanks

A flashing CEL means a misfire bad enough to kill the cat. To my knowledge it is not used to indicate a brake related fault condition.

I'm guessing you were probably doing a wheelie and the front wheels stopped turning. That would definitely set a speed sensor code.

I agree. That’s the only logical explanation

Yep....was doing a wheelie..........yeah right.
Guessing the front wheel speed sensors code were old...probably from when I spun the rear wheels while on jack stands.

Did not feel any misses during the acceleration...have a few when at idle....have had for years. Drove around this morning while monitoring fuel trims....all were low numbers...in the 3-5% range most of the time, did see an 8% at one time as the max. No miss fires when driving....only at idle. I did note that one O2 sensor reading seemed to be much higher than the other....but not sure which one. Will have to go out again and actually log the data this time...missed the button this morning...thought I was logging but was not.

Thanks.

Might want to do some misfire counter data logging under full acceleration to see what kind of cylinder counts you get. Are they big numbers and are they random vs specific cylinders.

Finally did some data logging on the misfires; cyl #2 appears to be the source. I also noticed that the cam retard was out of spec.
Removed the distributor clamp, did a bit of grinding on the bolt hole to allow a bit more CCW movement. Check #2 plug wire....did not feel or see any burn areas.
Put the distributor clamp back in, re-checked cam retard....under -1.0° now with RPM above 1100. And for the few seconds that I had the engine running to check the cam retard, the total misfires stayed a 0....that's odd.

Will have to take it out again, do more data logging, see if there are good changes.
