Default Brake Bleeding Please Read

I know this has been beaten to death but I cant find the correct answer. I have a 96 blazer. I replaced the rear brake line that was rusted out. I have the brake light on the dash (not the ABS). I am having a hard time bleeding the rear brakes. It has a very low volume of fluid with a vaccuum bleeder. The light does go out when i pump the brakes but comes back on again when pedal goes to floor. I an not get a hard pedal. I have read of the proportioning valve going off center. I checked the two tabs under the rubber caps. The front one has the pin recessed but the rear one the pin is level with the outer part of the fitting. I can push it in but it feels like it is under pressure and it pushes right back out to the same position.

Is this how its supposed to be? or is it not resetting. I was able to get about 12 oz of fluid through the rear line bit it took me about 3 hours and it still has a ton of bubbles in it. I give up it beat me. I cant do anything else without your help to direct me. Please help!! thank you

did you let the master go completely dry at anytime, possible theres air trapped up front somewhere.

youre probably better off bleeding the brakes with two people. have someone pump it a few times hold it then you crack the bleeder open.

also i dont think it applies to these trucks but you can try bleeding out your front brakes too

How does the flex hose from the frame to the axle look like in back? Are you sure your wheel cylinders in back are good. I've seen stuck wheel cylinders cause a spongy brake pedal.

cylinders are ok and are not leaking. The master never went dry. all hoses look fine. I am going to try to pump bleed them when I get a helper and see if that will do anything. Maybe the hand pump is just not enough to draw the fluid to the back. thanks if you can think of anything else please post it here thanks again

I've always had problems bleeding the back brakes on these blazers. Sometimes it takes me hours also. Keep trying, you'll get it! Two people is the only way to go.

the 2 man system worked I was able to get fluid to the back brakes. Let me ask this, the portioning valve near the master cylinder has a plunger inside. Is it normal to have the plunger ( the one to the rear of the valve toward the firewall) moves out of the valve when the brake is pressed. Nothing happens to the front one. Is this suposed to happen? and is tis working properly?
