brake light short?
So I have had my 99 4dr. ls for about 2 weeks now and i noticed my driver side brake light was out 2 nights ago. went to schmucks and got some bulbs and when I went into the garage to replace them, I stepped on the brakes just to be sure, and it worked again...
what happens is when i turn the blinker on, or move the blinker arm at all, the brake light stops working, unless i push it forward and hold it there, if I pull it in the slightest bit back toward me, or go over a speed bump that makes is move, the brake light won't work. the taillight always works, just not the brake.
ANY ideas? there is not alot of play so it's a small margin that it moves back and forth causing this to happen.

RE: brake light short?
This sounds like you have a fault in the multifunction switch. If you play around with the hazard switch on the top of the column, does it affect the problem?
You may want to check your eligibility for the recall that GM has issued that I think covers your year. Your nearest Chevrolet Dealership Service department should be able to check on that for you.
If you are not eligible for the recall and messing with the hazard switch does not affect the problem, then I would recommend you change out the faulty multifunction switch.

RE: brake light short?
thanks for the info. it doesn't happen when i mess with the hazard switch, only the blinker arm, and it's only the driver side brake light that goes in/out... I sitll think it could be the switch mentioned in the recall, but don't think chevy will help me out... I am still going to take it in because it's the only thing wrong with my vehicle and it's annoying me.
